About/History:
CORT, which was founded in 1971 with the merger of four small regional furniture rental companies is today the nation's largest provider of rental furniture, accessories and related services in the industry. We provide high-quality furniture to both individuals and corporations who desire flexibility in their furnishing needs. CORT is proud to have been recognized as a reliable first responder to disasters like 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, and more recently, we were chosen for the second time by the US Census Bureau to set up field offices for the 2010 Census. These types of events require complicated logistics and demand quick and flexible solutions.

In 2000, CORT was proud to become part of Berkshire Hathaway, a company known for its corporate ethics and unrivaled financial stability.

In 2006, CORT began providing services designed specifically for relocating renters and individuals on domestic or international temporary assignments. CORT recognized that companies need their key talent to hit the ground running and maintain optimal levels of productivity while maximizing cost efficiencies at the same time.

Our services range from locating furnished and unfurnished, temporary or long-term, apartment or private rental housing; guided community tours, settling-in and other destination services.

CORT's vast service operations footprint, with 105 showrooms, 95 clearance centers and 97 warehouses have allowed us to serve customer needs in over 1700 different locations across the country. In 2008, CORT expanded its operation to the U.K. through the purchase of Roomservice Group and has built a partner network that can service customer needs in over 50 countries worldwide.

Environment/Benefits:
Medical
CORT offers you three medical plan options:
  • United Healthcare POS Point of Service
  • United Healthcare High Option PPO Preferred Provider Organization
  • United Healthcare Low Option PPO Preferred Provider Organization

Each option provides different levels of coverage, co-payments and coinsurance. All three plans allow you the freedom to choose an in-network or out-of-network provider each time you or your covered dependents need care. Additionally California resident are eligible to participate in an HMO option with Kaiser Permanente of California.

Dental
Dental coverage is separate from the medical plan election. This means you may enroll in one plan and waive coverage in the other. You may also choose to cover dependents in one plan and not to cover dependents in the other. CORT offers two dental plan options. Each option provides different levels of coverage, coinsurance, and maximum benefits. You have the freedom to choose whether to receive care from a network of MetLife Dental providers or non-network providers each time you or your covered dependents need care.

Vision
Your vision election is separate from your medical and dental plan elections. This means you may enroll in one plan and waive coverage in the other. You may also choose to cover dependents in one plan and not to cover dependents in the other. You have the freedom to choose whether to receive care from a network of providers or non-net-work providers each time you or a covered dependent need care.

LIFE INSURANCE AND ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT
CORT provides Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance in the amount of $10,000 at no cost to the employee. Employees may elect to purchase additional Supplemental Life and AD&D Insurance in increments of $25,000 (ranging from $25,000 to $500,000). Employees also have the option to purchase dependent life insurance coverage and Family AD&D coverage.

LONG-TERM DISABILITY
Coverage provides 60% of your monthly base salary up to a maximum of $10,000 per month. Employees pay the full cost of this coverage through convenient payroll deduction. CORT provides a Short-Term Disability benefit to employees who elect Long Term Disability.

401(k) INVESTMENT SAVINGS AND PROFIT SHARING PLAN
Upon completing six months of service, full-time employees and part-time employees will be enrolled in CORT's 401(k) Investment Savings and Profit Sharing Plan.

401(k) Investment Savings Plan: Employees may contribute from 1% to 60% of their earnings on a before-tax basis. Each month, CORT matches the first 4% that the employee contributes on a pre-tax basis at a rate of 50 cents per dollar. Employees may also elect to contribute on a post-tax basis.

Profit Sharing: Each year, as profits permit, CORT contributes an additional match to 401(k) accounts of active participants as of December 31.

AUTHORIZED PAID LEAVE
CORT has an Authorized Paid Leave policy designed to provide full-time and part-time employees with a number of paid days off if they are sick. Details of this program will be provided upon employment.

PAID HOLIDAYS
CORT observes the six holidays below. Part-time employees' holiday pay is prorated based on their regularly scheduled hours.
New Year's Day; Independence Day; Thanksgiving Day; Memorial Day; Labor Day; Christmas Day
