For Immediate Release:
Sunrise Children’s Hospital hosts the 2nd Annual Bone Marrow Drive in honor of Brandon Rayner

Las Vegas, NV – Brandon Rayner is hard to forget. He was an adorable 10-year old boy who loved UFC, his family and collecting things. Over the years he collected keys, key chains and wrenches. But, many of us came to know Brandon through is business card collection. On June 6, 2008, Brandon was diagnosed with leukemia. While at Sunrise Children’s Hospital receiving treatment, Brandon decided to set a goal to collect the most business cards. At first his goal was to collect 1,000 cards. But once local media heard about Brandon and his quest, they helped spread the word. Within only two weeks he had collected 19,000 business cards. Each week the stack of mail for Brandon grew and grew. By September, he had over 100,000 cards and by December he had nearly one million. The business cards that came in were from people as close as the businesses next door to as far away as China. Brandon’s card collection had helped inspire people from all over the world.

On December 24, 2008, Brandon passed away. But his spirit and inspiration remain. Last February, Sunrise Children’s Hospital hosted a bone marrow donor drive in his honor. One hundred people became part of the registry that day. Now, 13 months after Brandon’s death, he continues to inspire and help others. Please help us get the word out about the 2nd annual Sunrise Children’s Hospital Bone Marrow Drive in honor of Brandon Rayner so that we can continue to help those in need of a bone marrow transplant. Be the Match.
