Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas-Clark County Library District’s Summer Reading Program begins Monday, June 1 and continues through Friday, July 31. Summer reading programs encourage children and teens to continue reading during the summer months. Trends show that children and teens who continue reading throughout the year maintain or even surpass their current reading level.

Be Creative @ Your Library is this year’s theme for pre-readers and readers from birth through grade five. Teens have their own reading program, Express Yourself @ Your Library, with special programs and a bookmark contest.

The free Summer Reading Program offers children, teens and their families the opportunity to share reading time together, attend special guest programs and earn prizes while keeping track of their reading successes.

Stop by any Library District branch on or after June 1 to pick up a reading log. Participants decide the number of books or hours to read 5, 10, 15 or 20 increments to receive reading incentives and eligibility for entry into the Grand Prize Drawing, a $50 gift certificate from Borders for the kids and a $50 gift certificate from Target for the teens.
