MountainView Hospital Announces Major Expansion

Las Vegas, Nev. (July 20, 2010) – For more than 14 years, MountainView Hospital has served the healthcare needs of the families in Northwest Las Vegas and its surrounding area. MountainView is pleased to announce a $34 million expansion and renovation which will allow the hospital to continue to provide high quality healthcare to the community. Beginning in early 2011, MountainView will break ground on the first floor which will include an expansion of the emergency room as well as an additional 12-bed intensive care unit. Renovations will also be made to the 72-bed medical surgical unit on the fourth floor.

“We are very excited to begin this project,” said Will Wagnon, CEO of MountainView Hospital. “Despite difficult economic times and increased competition, we are committed to meeting the needs of our community and will continue to innovate and grow. Through this expansion we will be able to provide additional space, services and technology to care for our patients.”

This expansion will nearly double the size of the emergency room from 22 to 42 beds, and offers additional amenities such as:

A brand new triage area to help patients be quickly assessed by a dedicated triage nurse
A “Fast Track” area for rapid medical evaluation and initiation of treatment
A dedicated pediatric area
A convenient, dedicated emergency room entrance
A new ambulance entrance to help EMS quickly and efficiently offload patients to a waiting team of doctors and nurses
A helipad conveniently located near the emergency room to help the transport teams get patients into the emergency room quickly
New equipment including a PET-CT, offering advanced metabolic imaging capabilities to help quickly evaluate chest pain patients

“Over the years, we have seen a significant increase in patient activity in our emergency room,” said Wagnon. “While MountainView has always been a valuable healthcare resource, we believe that now is the time for us to expand so that we can continue to meet the needs of our community.”

This expansion, in addition to ER Text Message wait times and a recent partnership with iTriage, helps patients access our Emergency Department quickly and conveniently.

During the construction process, the current emergency room will remain open.

MountainView Hospital is an accredited Chest Pain Center and a certified Primary Stroke Center.
